New Websites, Most Designed by Us

October 29th, 2008

Of course you know that when we say “Us” in a headline, you know that 99 percent of the time it’s Deena, don’t you?  The rest of us, like Matt, play supporting roles with office administration and ongoing website updates.  (But the royal “we” certainly is a fun way to write.)

Well, with that out of the way, we have two new websites that we designed to tell you about.  The first, for the Perseus Books Group, is a website to promote Labor of Love by Thomas Beatie.  It’s a remarkable true story about how a female-to-male transsexual became pregant when his wife couldn’t have a child.  That site looks like this:

The next site, also for Perseus, is to promote The List by Gail Belsky, a book about “100 Ways to Shake up Your Life.”  That site looks like this:

We also designed a new page for a Perseus website to promote the latest in the blockbuster Skinny Bitch series by Rory Freeman and Kim Barnouin, Skinny Bitch: Bun in the Oven.  And here’s a link to that.

Plus, we designed and programmed a massive online, database-driven archive of I.F. Stone’s Weekly for our clients at IFStone.org.  Here’s a link to that.

Now what in the heckfire did we mean by that “Most Designed by Us” comment in the headline?  Well, a few weeks ago, the folks at the AMC Festival of Trees asked us for help designing a website on the cheap.  So, we gave them a tutorial in the WordPress content management system, helped them format a basic website header, and turned them loose!  The results are at this link.  Their site looks pretty awesome.  Please take a few moments to check out this event benefiting Hospice–and if you’re in the Shenandoah Valley on November 14th, please attend their event!
